Linda F. Unverzagt, 77

Linda F. Unverzagt, age 77, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2023, surrounded by her family. Linda was born October 25, 1946, in Osage, Iowa, the daughter of Lawrence and Elaine (Wilde) Pike. She attended Iowa schools and in 1964 graduated from St. Ansgar High School. Linda’s working career included Rose Creek Bank, Hormel Corporate Office, and more than 20 years dedicated to Mower County Human Services, retiring in 2009. In 1971, Linda married Edward Unverzagt in St. Ansgar, Iowa. The couple shared 46 years and were blessed with two children. Linda cherished the company of others, whether it was spending time with friends, sharing stories and laughter over a cup of coffee at Kenny’s Oak Grill or engaging in friendly games of 500; Linda valued these connections dearly. In her younger years, Linda enjoyed playing softball and volleyball. Later in life, she enjoyed riding her scooter. Her greatest joy was her family, and she loved the time spent with them. Linda will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her daughters; Nichole (Jeff Becker) Unverzagt of Hayfield, Minnesota, and Andrea (Dan) Sparks of Austin, Minnesota; nephew, more like a son Jon (Brooke) Pike; nine grandchildren; Tyler (Megan) Lynch, Hailey (Mike) Osmundson, Alex (Terina) Lynch, Rylie Ehmke, Madison Sparks, Miranda Lynch, Mikayla (Sumner) Paschke, Breanna Mundy, and Niklas Sparks; eight great grandchildren; Britt, Lydia, Daxton, Finnley, Jonathan, Hendrix, Ellie, and Jett; and brother, Wayne Pike of Sparta, Wisconsin, niece Erika (Doug) Ball and nephew Josh (Steph) Pike. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Elaine Pike, sister, Helen, and sister-in-law, Rhonda Pike.

Linda’s celebration of life will be held at the Eagles Club in Austin, MN on Friday, December 8, 2023, beginning at noon and going until 4pm. Lunch and beverages will be provided. A private family burial will be held on Saturday, December 9. Memorials are preferred to the Hormel Institute. Services are prearranged and performed by Worlein Funeral Home of Austin.
