State exceeds 40K cumulative COVID-19 cases

The Minnesota Department of Health on Thursday reported seven new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Mower County, bringing the county’s total to 972 cases since March 19.

Neighboring counties reported cumulative numbers as follows: Dodge (93), Fillmore (30), Freeborn (302), Olmsted (1,196, 17 deaths) and Steele (240, 1 death).

Statewide, the MDH reported 589 new cases Thursday, bringing the state’s total to 40,163 cases since March 6. Of those, an estimated 35,193 no longer need isolation.

The MDH reported that 251 people were hospitalized with COVID-19 on Thursday in Minnesota, including 116 in intensive care.

An additional five deaths were reported Thursday, bringing the state’s death toll to 1,490.

To date, 705,440 COVID-19 tests have been administered in Minnesota.
