Our opinion: Send us your best

Boy, we are really getting tired of saying this, but like so many things, COVID-19 has played a role in disrupting Austin Expression.

By now, you will have noticed that the July-August edition of Austin Living Magazine does not contain the annual Austin Expression section. That’s because COVID-19 has pushed things around in such a way that we had to move it back to our September-October edition for this year.

So that being said, this is our invitation to you to send us those things that highlight your artistic side. We’ve run photos, paintings, pictures of sculptures, short stories and poems and we’re eager to do it again.

The deadline for submissions is July 29, giving you plenty of time to send us your works of art.

We also would like to ask you for ideas that you think would make a great addition to our features section. Each Austin Expression we share stories of three people in the world of art that stand them out so if you know of somebody who fits the goal send them to photodesk@austindailyherald and be sure to include contact information.

We look forward to once again sharing our readers’ creations.

Submission guidelines

We will accept submissions from artists/writers who live or work in Austin/Mower County  and the surrounding area, along with people who have a direct tie to Austin (Austin natives/AHS grads now living out of state will be accepted).

Please include name and contact information  (phone number and email) with submissions.

Send submissions to photodesk@austindailyherald.com with “Austin Expression” in the subject line. Please include a short bio that includes ties to Austin/Mower County.
