The Mower County Free Fair is still scheduled to be held Aug. 11-16 at the Mower County Fairgrounds, though there is uncertainty going forward.
According to Mower County Fair Board Director John Mueller, the board opted to continue with the event during its Tuesday meeting, though they are carefully monitoring the situation.
“With the fair being more than two months away, the board is keeping a watchful eye as more Minnesota events and activities return to normal,” Mueller said. “In addition, the board is monitoring the discussions of other groups and organizations that are important to and part of the Mower County Fair.”
Mueller said the board will meet at least two more times in coming weeks to continue the discussion and planning for the 2020 fair. The fair board will announce any changes that may be made.
For the time being, the fair board does not have any events set in stone.
“This is obviously an unusual year,” Mueller said. “With the ‘wait and see’ holding pattern we are in, we have not yet produced a fair guide and probably won’t until July. Our acts and entertainers are in the same position as us and many of the contracts are on hold until we get closer to the fair date.”
Mueller added that back-up plans and safety measures are being discussed.
