Shell casing located after police respond to fight at Rodeway Inn

Police are looking for more information after a shell casing was found in the parking lot at Rodeway Inn.

According to Austin Police Chief David McKichan, Austin police officers and Mower County deputies responded to a call of a fight called in by the management of Rodeway Inn at about 4:37 a.m. on Saturday. No active fight was ongoing when law enforcement arrived; however, several people were interviewed and said they heard a gunshot.

A single .40 caliber shell casing was found in the parking lot, as well as a torn face mask and some hair.

Several warrants were executed on rooms at the motel, but police were unable to locate a firearm.

No victims or property damage from the gunshot were found. No suspect description was given to police.

An adult female, Annastasia Chandee, 19, of Austin was arrested on a fifth-degree drug controlled substance crime after 17 THC vaping cartridges were allegedly found in her vehicle at the scene.
