Chamber of Commerce cancels Fourth of July Parade
The Austin Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has decided to cancel this year’s Fourth of July Parade because of the COVID-19 situation.
“It is unrealistic to have a parade while keeping a social distance,” said Jeanine Nelson, Austin Area Chamber of Commerce Member Relations/Major Events. Nelson also indicated another factor in the decision was that a few bands will not be performing this summer.
The decision came shortly after the City of Austin announced it would not hold events at Bandshell Park out of concern for social distancing.
