Blossoms capture Section 1A title

ROCHESTER – The Awesome Blossoms officially made history as they beat Hayfield 59-51 in the Section 1A title game in Rochester’s Mayo Civic Center Thursday.
It was the third time BP beat Hayfield this season and the Awesome Blossoms have now clinched a berth to their first state tournament since 1966.
Gabe Hagen put up 23 points, five rebounds and four assists for BP and Kaden Thomas added 14 points. BP has eight seniors on its roster including many who played on the Minnesota Class A Prep Bowl championship football team this fall.
“Our seniors did a great job of pushing each other this year, even if they didn’t play as much as they would’ve liked to,” BP head coach Nate Piller said. “I’m so happy for our guys.”
BP is scheduled to play in Williams Arena Wednesday, but that may change due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
