The No. 9 seeded Austin boys hockey team had its season end when it lost 5-1 to No. 8 Winona (13-12-1 overall) in a Section 1A Tournament opener in Winona Tuesday.

The game was scoreless after one period, but the Winhawks tacked on three goals in the second period to grab the lead.

Kaleb Red scored early in the third period to bring the Packers (1-24 overall) within 3-1.

Austin had 32 shots on goal Brayden Klapperick had 36 saves for the Packers.
