Charlene F. Blowers, 72, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away on Friday, Feb. 7, 2020, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home.

Charlene was born Nov. 16, 1947, in Austin to Cletus and Marcella (Diggins) Heimer. She graduated with the Class of 1965 from Austin High School. Charlene was united in marriage to Michael Blowers in May 1973. They were blessed with a son, Jason, and daughter, Jennifer. Charlene and Michael later divorced but remained close friends.Charlene enjoyed a long career with Mower County Human Services as a financial worker. She retired on Dec. 30, 2005, after 32 years of service. Charlene also worked several years for Mower Council for the Handicapped, Inc. in Austin. She had many interests, including traveling, gambling, politics and history. She treasured time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Charlene was a longtime member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Austin.  Over the years she was active in the DFL Party and the AFSME Union.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cletus and Marcella Heimer; son, Jason Blowers; sisters, Marsha Pawluk and Nancy Heimer; and brother, Thomas Heimer. Charlene is survived by her loving ex-husband, Michael Blowers of Austin; daughter, Jennifer Beckel (fiancé Zach Tolman) of Austin; daughter-in-law, Kris Grev-Blowers of Blue Earth, Minnesota; grandchildren, Ryan Carstens of Austin, Calin Blowers of Mason City, Iowa, Whitney Blowers of Austin, McKenzie Beckel of Austin, Brodi Blowers of Blue Earth, Olivia Blowers of Blue Earth, Quinton Grimley of Austin and August Tolman of Austin; great-grandchildren, Kaya Ackland, Kameron Ackland and Hudson Fissell; siblings, Julie (Mark) Farrell of Lyle, Minnesota, Rick (Barbara) Heimer of Perham, Minnesota, and Renee (Tony) Merten of Austin; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Special thank you for the wonderful care provided to Charlene by the aides and nurses at St. Mark’s, and Ecumen Hospice. 

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2020, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Father Raul Silva officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 14, 2020, at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary and will continue for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
