Open house schedule planned to inform on bridge connections
The Minnesota Department of Transportation invites the public to attend an information open house on Wednesday, Feb. 5, in Austin to learn about a construction project to replace bridges over Interstate 90 in two locations in Austin.
The meeting is from 4-6 p.m. in the large meeting room of the Austin Public Library, 323 4th Ave NE. There will be no formal presentation. The project team will be available to answer any questions and provide a detailed update.
The I-90 Bridges Reconstruction Project will replace the bridges at Highway 218/14th St. NW and 28th St. NE over Interstate 90. These bridges are nearing the end of their service life and are scheduled to be replaced in 2021. This reconstruction is part of a larger planning effort to update aging community infrastructure over the next decade, including other bridges in Austin’s I-90 corridor.
The meeting is a chance for people to receive a project update and learn about what’s been happening in the project’s development during the past six months. Updates will include information about the proposed trail along 28th St. NE, construction staging for the Highway 218/14th St. NW and 28th St. NE overpasses, and pedestrian and bicyclist options.
