NRHEG edges out Hayfield in a heartbreaker

The Hayfield girls basketball team lost to New Richland-HEG (2-0 overall, 1-0 Gopher) 61-60 in Hayfield Thursday.
NRHEG freshman Teegan Suther made two free throws with .8 seconds left to beat Hayfield.
Cela Carney, who scored a career-high 21 points, had put Hayfield up 60-59 with a runner with 20 seconds left after Hayfield (0-2 overall, 0-1 Gopher) had trailed for the entire second half.
“We played night and day different from our first game,” Hayfield head coach Kasey Krekling said. “We’re getting there.”
