Marlene R. Morse, 80, of Brownsdale, Minnesota, passed away Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019, at Mayo Clinic Health System-Austin.

Marlene Rachel Schroeder was born on April 3, 1939, in Austin, Minnesota, to Art and Julia (Schreiber) Schroeder. She attended Rose Creek High School, where she was crowned homecoming queen and graduated in 1957. On Feb. 17, 1957, she married Jerry E. Morse at Grace Lutheran Church in Austin. The couple met while Marlene was teaching music at Lindstrom Music, where Jerry took guitar lessons. They made their home in Austin. To this union, five children were born. Following their marriage, Marlene started working at Dinner Belle and Piggly Wiggly in Austin. Later, she began a 15-year career at Austin High School Alternative Learning Center as a paraprofessional. Marlene loved her work and the students. She was an avid bowler and a member of the Schroeder Electric bowling team. She also helped out with the Special Olympics. Marlene loved to eat out, go Christmas shopping and decorating. She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry E. Morse of Brownsdale; son, Jerry (Gwyn) Morse of Austin; daughters, Kim (Mark) Peterson of Lansing, Minnesota, and Tammy Jax of Stewartville, Minnesota; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; brothers, Danny Schroeder of Rochester, Minnesota, Arthur Schroeder of California and Ronny Schroeder of Rochester; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Art and Julia Schroeder; son, Shawn Morse; daughter, Shannin Morse; sister, Diane Smith; and brother, Alvin Schroeder.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2019, at Grace Lutheran Church in Austin with Pastor Patrick Ziems officiating. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Worlein Funeral Home of Austin is assisting the family with arrangements.
