The LeRoy-Ostrander girls basketball team lost its season opener to Mabel-Canton 47-33 in LeRoy Friday.

Sam Volkart had 11 points for the Cardinals (0-1 overall, 0-1 SEC), who outscored MC 15-12 in the second half.

“We played much better in the second half,” LO head coach Trevor Carrier said. “I was very proud to see them pick it up and play so hard.”
