Austin grad shines at Summit Championships

Austin grad Madison Overby put together a strong run for the University of North Dakota at the Summit League Cross Country Championships in Fargo on  Saturday.

Overby, a senior at the University of North Dakota, earned All-Summit League honors when she  led the Fighting Hawks with a sixth place finish.

Overby finished the 6K race with a time of 21:34. She will now prepare for the NCAA West Regional at OSU on Nov. 15.

Overby ran in just four cross country meets at UND as a freshman, she was injured her sophomore year and she took 13th in the Summit Championships last season as a redshirt sophomore. She also owns the UND track and field record for the 3,000 meter run with a time of 9:42.75.

Overby, a six-time state cross country qualifier with the Packers, is a biology, pre-health major at UND.

Pacelli grad Kayla Christopherson took 30th place for South Dakota State at the Summit Championships with a time of 22:53.
