Ronald Dean Hatfield, 81, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away peacefully Sunday, Oct. 20, 2019, surrounded by his loving family at St. Mark’s Memory Care in Austin.

Ronald was born on April 18, 1938, in Austin to Daniel and Hazel (Smith) Hatfield. He attended Austin High School. Following high school, he entered into the United States Air Force, serving from 1955-1959. Ronald worked as a welder/industrial maintenance man for Walker Process. He married Donna Klingfus and the couple later divorced. On Aug. 9, 1986, Ronald was united in marriage to Virginia Boekhoff in Albert Lea, Minnesota. Virginia passed away on Aug. 21, 2010. On April 11, 2013, Ronald married Estela Gatchalian in the Philippines. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, enjoyed woodworking, walking, traveling, reading, and was a computer geek. Ronald will be dearly missed by all his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Estela Hatfield of Austin; two daughters, Tamra (Patrick) Wehner of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, and Nancee (Tom) Easter of Menomonie, Wisconsin; Lori Savoie of Vergas, Minnesota, Kevin (Cindy) Savoie of Scribner, Nebraska, Darrin (Cindy Hedlund) Savoie of Eagle Bend, Minnesota, Scott (Carolyn Volsen) Savoie of Lake Mills, Iowa, Ma Clara Peralta, Fabby Estillore, Monica Estillore, Magdalena Estillore and Peter John Estillore; 11 grandchildren, Sam and Hannah Wehner, Donald and Jonathan Easter, Samuel (Britinie) Savoie, Amanda Savoie, Aimee (Aaron) Eggen, Jessica Rollag, Ashley (Kenny) Thorson, Kevin Savoie, Jr. and Lynn Savoie; 16 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Hatfield of Austin; sister, Betty Farley of Phoenix, Arizona; brother-in-law, Richard List of Austin; sister-in-law, Teresita Estillore; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Hazel Hatfield; wife, Virginia Hatfield; one brother, John Hatfield; and three sisters, Pauline Hoff, Joan List and Darlene Yauger.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 25, 2019, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Austin. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Austin. Military honors performed by American Legion Post 91 and VFW Post 1216. The family prefers memorials to Menomonie Red Cedar Special Olympics, 316 21st Ave. W., Menomonie, WI 54751. Services are prearranged and performed with Worlein Funeral Home of Austin.
