Robert Dennis Brownlow, 86, of LeRoy, Minnesota, died on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2019, at Cottagewood Senior Communities in Rochester, Minnesota.
Robert was born on April 2, 1933, to Bernard and Viola (Holt) Brownlow in Austin, Minnesota. He was married to Colleen Iverson on Sept. 8, 1956, in LeRoy and they became the parents of four children: Terri, Kris, Kay and Bob. He was the proud owner and operator of the Red Owl grocery store for 55 years. He served in the U.S. Army and was deployed to the Korean conflict. In 1967, he was the Minnesota trapshooting champion (doubles). Robert was an avid golfer, fisher, bowler and hunter. He was also a volunteer fireman, a ham radio operator and fan of both of the Vikings and the Twins.
Robert is survived by his children, Terri Beckett of Farmington, Minnesota, Kris (Mark) Thompson of Bettendorf, Iowa, Kay (Bill) McCloud of LeRoy and Robert “Bob” (Vivian) Brownlow of Akron, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; 10 ½ great-grandchildren; and sister, Donna Mallory of Maple Grove, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Colleen; grandson, Michael; son-in-law, Harold Beckett; and brother-in-law, William Mallory.
Memorial services for Robert will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 1, 2019, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in LeRoy with Father Marreddy Pothireddy officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2019, at Hindt Funeral Home in LeRoy and will continue for one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.
