Pedestrian injured by vehicle in Blooming Prairie

A Blooming Prairie man was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries after being hit by a vehicle Tuesday evening.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol accident report, a 2008 Dodge Ram, driven by Tyler John Hill, 40, of Blooming Prairie, turned southbound on Highway 218 from Second Street Southeast in Blooming Prairie at about 7:48 p.m. on Tuesday. When it turned, it collided with Jayson Andrew Chavez, 28, in an unmarked crosswalk.

The Steele County Sheriff’s Office and Blooming Prairie Police, Fire and Ambulance responded to the scene.

Chavez was transported to Mayo Clinic Health System-Austin with non-life threatening injuries. Hill was uninjured.

The report indicates alcohol was not a factor.
