The Austin girls soccer team lost to Winona (2-3 overall, 1-3 Big Nine) 4-2 on the road Thursday.
The Winhawks scored a pair of goals early in the game and Austin wasn’t able to tie things up. Hope Dudycha scored to bring Austin (2-3 overall, 1-2 Big Nine) within 3-1 right before the half and Olivia Shapinsky scored on an assist from Eliana Bentley in the second half.
“In the first half Winona caught us sleeping and they were able to get a couple of quick goals,” Austin head coach Jake Levisen said. “We responded by pushing the pace and pushing the passing. I’m very proud of how the girls reacted and refocused after being down.”
Robin Weaver had eight saves for Austin.
