Police are investigating an alleged assault that took place Monday night in Austin.

According to Austin Police Chief David McKichan, the assault occurred at about 9:30 p.m. Police reported to the victim’s residence in the 400 block of Second Street SE. The victim, a 31-year-old male from Austin, told police he had an altercation with three other males near Mill Pond and the skate park. The victim said he was wounded by an unknown sharp implement that caused bleeding in his groin area during the altercation.

Police investigated the area where the victim indicated the assault occurred, but found no evidence of an altercation, McKichan said. They also did not see any blood on the seat of the victim’s bike. The victim then changed his story and said the incident occurred outside his residence. He indicated he changed the location because he was concerned of reprisal from the alleged assailants, who are known to him.

The incident is still under investigation. McKichan encourages anyone who may have seen anything from 9-9:30 p.m. on Monday in the vicinity of the 400 block of Second Street SE to call the Austin Police Department at 507-437-9407. Reports can be made anonymously.
