David L. Loverink, 71

David L. Loverink, 71, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2019, surrounded by his loved ones at Mayo Clinic Hospital, St. Marys Campus-Rochester, Minnesota.

Dave was born July 22, 1948, in Albert Lea, Minnesota, to John and Aradine (Higgins) Loverink. They moved multiple times before settling in Ida Grove, Iowa. He graduated from Ida Grove High School with the Class of 1966. On April 6, 1968, he was united in marriage to Sharon Kay Bertelsen at First Methodist Church. David worked building bridges with his father. In 1973, they moved to Rochester, Minnesota, where he worked for Crenlo. Family ties eventually brought them to Austin, where he managed apartment buildings for 32 years before retiring.

Dave was a man of many words and stories, some factual and others not so factual. If you met him, you would not have left without a good conversation and a new friend. He loved talking about his younger years and the adventures he had playing with the neighborhood friends, of fast cars, roller skating and dating his wife. He loved his family and was always willing to help with anything you might need. He had many hobbies, but he was a craftsman woodworker. He took joy in making things for his family and friends. He was a man of true integrity. He believed in working hard, staying loyal to your spouse and family values. Most importantly, he believed and loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
