The LeRoy-Ostrander football team made a statement that it means business as it beat two-time defending nine man state champion Spring Grove (1-1 overall) 53-22 in Spring Grove Friday.

Chase Johnson ran for 235 yard for the Cardinals (2-0 overall) and Carter Johnson ran for 127 yards and six TDs.

LO had led just 23-22 at halftime.

“We made some changes, but I’ve got to give credit to the boys,” LO head coach Trevor Carrier said. “They played extremely hard. We got some turnovers and the offense capitalized. It’s a great team win and a great win for our community. I’m so proud of everyone.”

Isaac Collier had a 75-yard kick-off return for a TD in the win.
