Best Bets: Barrow show starts Friday; Hormel home celebrates

Get ready to pig out.

No there is no grand feast, but instead the 73rd annual National Barrow Show.

Known as the World Series of Swine, the National Barrow Show brings exhibitors, participants and visitors from across the country will be attending.

The Barrow Show runs from Saturday through Tuesday at the Mower County Fairgrounds.

Part of the barrow show includes the National Barrow Show Community Windsor Pork Chop Dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. At $10 per person, the money raised goes toward helping run the show.

Walking for animals

Also, at 1 p.m. on Sunday, the Mower County Humane Society will be hosting its biggest fundraiser of the year with the Walk for Animals.

The event is held at Mill Pond with registration at 1 p.m. and the walk at 2 p.m. Free hot dogs and refreshments will be available.

A special guest will be Roo Yori, of Rochester, who participate don American Ninja Warrior. For more information call 1-507-437-4243.

Hormel home celebrates

Join the Hormel historic home at 2 p.m. Sunday as it celebrates the 10th anniversary of the opening of the Hormel Historic Home Event Center. There will be live music from acts like JCA and Sean Ehrhardt and Cole Allen.
