Area grads are getting their college seasons started

Austin grad Logan Braaten had one solo tackle for Saint John’s University (2-0 overall) in a 14-7 win over UW-Stout on Sept. 7.
Grand Meadow grad Chris Bain had two solo tackles for Southwest Minnesota State University (0-3 overall) in a 51-7 loss to Sioux Falls on Saturday.
Grand Meadow grad Landon Jacobson had three carries for nine yards and a touchdown for Winona State University (2-1 overall) in a 28-20 win overUpper Iowa on Sept. 19.
Jacobson ran for 49 yards and a touchdown on three carries in WSU’s opening 37-20 win over Wayne State.
Hayfield grad Lane Canny had a catch for eight yards in the loss for the Peacocks (0-3 overall)
Blooming Prairie grad John Rumpza was 1-for-1 with 11 yards passing in the win over Wayne State for the Warriors.
A trio of area players are on the roster for UW-River Falls (1-2 overall).
Austin grad Jake Halsey has two tackles, a tackle for a loss and a pass broken up as a defensive lineman for the Falcons, Hayfield grad Sutton Schultz has two tackles, and Blooming Prairie grad Tim Wolf is wide receiver on the roster.
VOLLEYBALL
Hayfield grad Maggie Streightiff has 64 kills, 23 digs and four set assists on the season for Upper Iowa University (8-0 overall).
Hayfield grad Carrie Rutledge has an NJCAA Division III leading 295 kills and 170 digs for RCTC (18-0 overall). Rutledge also leads the nation in kills per set (5.09).
CROSS COUNTRY
Pacelli grad Kayla Christopherson is running for South Dakota State University this fall and she took 32nd place with a time 20:19.25 at the SDSU Classic on Sept. 13.
