Lotus Ann Hanson, 81, of Dexter, Minnesota, passed away Thursday, July 18, 2019, at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Saint Marys Campus-Rochester.
Lotus was born March 7, 1938, in Waltham Township, Minnesota, the daughter of Edwin and Marie (Anderson) Paape. In 1954, while still in high school, she met Thomas Hanson at the local roller rink. The couple married on June 25, 1955, at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Waltham, Minnesota. They lived in the Hayfield/Waltham area all of their lives, until recently moving to Dexter. She was a woman of strong faith and a lifelong member of St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Waltham. Lotus was a very hard worker both in her career that spanned over 30 years at
Crenlo in Rochester, Minnesota, and at home raising her four children. She filled her free time tending her beautiful flower gardens, a large vegetable garden every year, and feeding and watching the birds. After her retirement she was able to expand her gardens and enjoy them even more. She cherished time with her family, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed watching the Minnesota Vikings, collecting Precious Moments, coins, spoons and thimbles. Her family always tried to help expand her spoon and thimble collection when they traveled. She will be dearly missed by all who loved her.
