Heat advisory in effect through Friday evening, Austin Utilities issues peak alert

The National Weather Service in La Crosse, Wisconsin, has issued a heat advisory for Mower County from noon today through 7 p.m. on Friday.

Dangerous heat is expected beginning today with Friday shaping up as the hottest day. Afternoon temperatures of 90-95 degrees are expected, with heat indices of 100-105.

Exposure to heat for multiple days is dangerous, especially for the elderly, children and pets. The NWS advises to stay hydrated and limit outdoor activities. Make sure indoor air conditioning is functioning properly and check on elderly neighbors to make sure their air conditioning is also functional.
