Mower County Sheriff Steve Sandvik is reminding residents to lock their doors and vehicles after recent reports of a suspicious man spotted in the Sargeant and Waltham area.

According to Sandvik, the subject is a white male carrying a backpack that has been spotted walking through cornfields and tree groves. Based on descriptions, law enforcement believe the individual to be in his 30s, though that is not certain.

Sandvik also reported a recent burglary at an unlocked residence in rural Sargeant, where $50 cash, a cordless drill and personal camera were taken. It is unknown if the reported individual was involved.

Sandvik urges residents to immediately report any suspicious activity. Reports can be made to the Mower County Law Enforcement Center at 507-437-9400.
