Mower County Progressive Ag Safety Day set for June 26

Area youth have a chance to learn more about safety in June.

The first 2019 Mower County Progressive Ag Safety Day will be held on Wednesday, June 26, at the Mower County Fairgrounds. Students in grades 3-6 will be able to participate in a day filled with activities that teaches them about various safety procedures in the event of an emergency.

Check-in begins at 8 a.m. and the day runs from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Students do not have to be a 4-H member to attend. The day will be filled with topics for demonstrations and discussions, including the following:

  • ATV/Bicycle Safety
  • Chemical Safety
  • Tractor Safety
  • Electricity Safety
  • Fire Protection
  • Police Safety
  • First Aid
  • Tobacco/Alcohol Safety
  • Grain Bin Safety

There will also be fun games for students to participate. Registration is free and includes lunch, snacks, a t-shirt, and take-home goody bags. Contributions were provided by the Mower County Dairy Association, Thrivent Financial, Read’s Brown Swiss, Compeer Financial, Freeborn-Mower Cooperative Service, and Mower County Farm Bureau. Register at the Mower County Extension Office by June 14. Space is limited and open to the first 100 participants.
