Jonell D. Dowdell, 36, formerly of Austin, Minnesota, passed away suddenly on Monday, May 27, 2019, at his home in New Prague, Minnesota.
Jonell Davon was born June 21, 1982, in Chicago, Illinois, to Ronald Holmes and Linda Dowdell. He attended grade school and middle school in the Chicago area before moving with his family to Austin. Jonell graduated with the Class of 2004 from Austin High School. He was most recently employed as a welder with BDM Manufacturing in Farmington, Minnesota. Jonell was blessed to have accepted Christ at an early age through the Austin Baptist Chapel. He loved fishing, biking, barbecuing, and visiting with friends and family. Jonell enjoyed people, and was always the life of the party.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Rebecca Holmes; aunt, Sinnita Holmes; and uncle, Emory Dowdell. Jonell is survived by his mother and father, Linda Dowdell and Ronald Holmes of Austin; five brothers, Ron (Cheryl) Dowdell, Dee Dowdell and Gary Dowdell, all of Austin, Rondell Dowdell of New York, New York, and Brian (Toneisha) Porter of Chicago; significant other, Ashley Crews, and stepson, Ethan Crews, of New Prague; seven nieces, Yanna, Ellie, Dominique, Gabrielle, Kaylynn, Gemma and Isabelle; four nephews, Quentin, Dashon, Dion and Elijah; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
A visitation gathering will be held from noon to 2 p.m. on Friday, June 7, 2019, at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Austin. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
