2019 All-Herald Baseball Team released

FIRST TEAM

Easton Fritcher, pitcher, Hayfield

The freshman went 9-1 on the mound as he maintained an ERA of 1.50. Fritcher struck out 71, while allowing just 23 walks. At the plate, Fritcher hit .364 with two homers, three triples, eight doubles and 29 RBIs. He scored 31 runs and stole 15 bases.

Hunter Guyette, catcher, Austin

The senior hit .364 with three homers, one triple, five doubles and 18 RBIs while scoring 23 runs.

AJ Mueller, first base, Austin

The senior hit .274 with 2 homers, one triple, four doubles and 20 RBIs.

Brady Nelson, second base, Hayfield

The junior hit .396 with eight doubles and 24 RBIs to go with 32 runs and 13 stolen bases. As a pitcher, Nelson was 8-0 with an ERA of 2.82. He struck out 48, while allowing 14 walks.

Riley Wempner, shortstop, Austin

The senior, who spent most of his time at shortstop, hit .373 with three triples, one double and 18 RBIs, while scoring 23 runs for the Packers.

Drew Copley, third base, GMLOK

The senior slugger hit .554 with four homers, one triple, 10 doubles and 28 RBIs. Copley had an ob-base percentage of .608 and he struck out just five times. On the mound, Copley was 6-1 as he struck out 109 in 65.1 innings.

Luke Rennie, outfield, Blooming Prairie

The junior hit .391 with one homer, three doubles, one triple and 14 RBIs.

Teyghan Hovland, outfield, Austin

The sophomore hit .350 with one homer, three triples, five doubles and 20 RBIs. As a pitcher, Hovland maintained an ERA of 1.70, while striking out 46 and walking 14 hitters.

Andrew Schumacher, outfield, Austin

The speedy senior hit .300 with four doubles and 10 RBIs, while scoring 20 runs.


HONORABLE MENTION

Mason Tapp, shortstop, Hayfield

The senior hit .291 with one homer, six doubles and 24 RBIs.

Jake Risius, catcher, Hayfield

The junior hit .349 with two homers, four doubles and 20 RBIs.

Luke Dudycha, pitcher, Hayfield

The junior was 5-2 with one save for the Vikings as he had an ERA of 2.51. Dudycha struck out 48, while allowing just 27 walks in 47.1 innings.

Dawson Mills, third base, Austin

The former catcher didn’t have a lot of big hits, but his defense at third base helped propel the Packers to a run that saw them take third place in the Minnesota Class AAA State Baseball Tournament.

Michael O’Connor, outfield, Austin

The senior hit 328 with three doubles and 10 RBIs.

Payton Simon, shortstop, Blooming Prairie

The senior hit .340 with two doubles and eight RBIs.

Alex Miller, outfield, Blooming Prairie

The sophomore hit .340 with one double and eight RBIs.

Ian Wayne, outfield, Blooming Prairie

The senior hit .339 with two doubles and 10 RBIs. As a pitcher, Wayne was 5-5 with an ERA of 3.58.

Karson Vigeland, second base, Blooming Prairie

The junior hit .303 with one double and 12 RBIs.

Tanner Murphy, catcher, Lyle-Pacelli

The junior hit .467 with one homer, six triples, seven doubles and 29 RBIs.

Zach Bollingberg, shortstop, Lyle-Pacelli

The sophomore hit .348 with 15 RBIs and 12 stolen bases. As a pitcher, Bollingberg was 5-3 with an ERA of 1.83. He struck out 61 and walked just eight.

Cole Walter, second base, Lyle-Pacelli

The sophomore hit .341 with 9 RBIs. He was 4-1 on the mound with an ERA of 3.66.

Jed Nelson, utility, Lyle-Pacelli

The sophomore hit .320 with eight doubles and 18 RBIs.

Reid Kruegel, outfield, GMLOK

The senior hit .443 with one homer, five doubles and six RBIs.

Dustin Copley, shortstop, GMLOK

The freshman hit .404 with one homer, twp triples, four doubles and 17 RBIs.
