The Austin Noon Kiwanis club co-sponsored with Austin Ford Chrysler to conduct the annual Cub Scout Pine Wood Derby.

A total of 158 racers participated.

The event took place over four “pack” nights and a final district wide race on April 6.

Cub Scout packs participating included:

• Lion (kindergarten)
• Tiger (first grade)
• Wolf (second grade)
• Bear (third grade)
• Webelo (fourth and fifth grades)

Pack participants came from Austin, Albert Lea, Lyle and Adams.

The district wide race was open to individuals (youth to adult) throughout southern Minnesota.

Jean McDermott from Austin Noon Kiwanis was the overall coordinator of the event and presented trophies to the top four finishers in each category.
