Phom Phathaem, 67, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2019, at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Saint Marys Campus-Rochester.

Phom was born on Aug. 9, 1951, in Sayaboury, Laos, to Khamjoi and Kham Phathaem. He grew up in Sayaboury and served his country in the Army. Phom married Dee Khaleck in Laos. In 1980, they moved to Arizona, where he worked with bumpers at a factory. In 1987, they moved to California, then to Austin in 2010, where he attended Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Phom loved going on walks, planting his garden, and mowing his lawn. He also enjoyed going out, helping others, and making jokes. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife, Dee Phathaem of Austin; children, Michael (Mi Mi) Phathaem of Marshall, Minnesota, Rocky Phathaem of Austin, and Khai (Bounnao Rsaphone) Phathaem of Austin; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren with one on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, Khamjoi and Kham Phathaem; and son, Som Phathaem.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2019, at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin with Father Raul Silva officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Worlein Funeral Home of Austin is assisting the family with arrangements.
