Hart named NISC player of the year

Lyle grad Jordan Hart was named NSIC Player of the Year recently.
Hart, a senior outfielder at Minnesota State University, led the conference in home runs, RBIs, total bases and slugging percentage. He set a new MSU record with 70 RBIs in the season, which is currently ranked second in the nation and he tied the school single-season record for home runs in a season with 18.
Hart has set career MSU records with 43 homers and 184 RBIs.
Hart is a three-time NISC Player of the Week this year. The Mavericks (38-11 overall) will play Northern State in the first round of the NISC Tournament in St. Cloud Thursday.
SOFTBALL
Austin grad Sydney Murphy helped the UW-La Crosse softball team win five straight elimination games to win the WIAC championship and advance to the Division III Regional Tournament.

Murphy, a senior third baseman, went 5-for-15 with a double and RBI and a run scored in the five must-win games for the Eagles (25-17 overall).
UWL will take on College of Saint Benedict in a Regional opener at 2 p.m. Friday, in Pella, Iowa.
