Frances F. Peterson, 93, of Austin, Minnesota, died peacefully on Saturday, May 4, 2019, at the Pine Haven Care Center in Pine Island, Minnesota.

Frances Faye Van Reenen was born on April 19, 1926, in Emmons, Minnesota, to Ralph and Marie (Gold) Van Reenen. She graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1944. On June 20, 1948, Fran married Lloyd Peterson at the Presbyterian Church in Albert Lea, Minnesota. In 1953, they made their home in Austin and purchased Scovill Jewelry.

Fran had several jobs throughout her life, including working as a secretary for both the railroad and FBI in Washington, D.C. In addition to being a caring mother, Fran spent many years working with Lloyd at their jewelry store in Austin.

Fran loved life and always found the best in everyone and every situation. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Her positive attitude was contagious. Fran enjoyed weekly church services at Pine Haven, visiting, traveling, shopping, reading and spending time outdoors in her younger years.

Fran is survived by her children, Stuart (Judy) Peterson of Palm Springs, California, and Sherry (Raymond) Huerta of Solvang, California; brother, Earl (Patricia) Van Reenen of Montgomery, Texas; six grandchildren, Christopher (Chinnapak) Peterson, Lauren (Nathan) Wallace, Evette (fiancé, Creighton Jones) Peterson, Janelle Peterson, Alexis Peterson and Van Asia Peterson; and four great-grandchildren, Kai, Eli, Avery and Kieran.

Fran was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; son, Douglas Peterson; and sister, Glenda Sexton.

The family invites everyone to join them for the memorial service and/or graveside service. The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2019, at the Chapel at Pine Haven Care Center in Pine Island. The graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 10, 2019, at Oakwood Cemetery in Austin. Condolences may be left for the family online at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
