The Austin softball team was held to just three hits as it lost to Red Wing (6-3 overall) 8-2 in Todd Park Thursday.

Austin sophomore Leslie Rodriguez made her pitching debut for the Packers (4-5 overall) as she struck out seven.

Rodriguez has also filled in at shortstop and designated player for Austin this season.

“Leslie did a great job. She had positive energy on the mound and she worked hard throughout the game,” Austin head coach Lisa Lage said. “She’s a great player and she plays anywhere we put her. It’s nice to have a player who’s willing to do anything and play anywhere for the team.”
