A Rochester man was injured after losing control of his vehicle Monday night on Oakland Avenue.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol accident report, Dale Wayne Gills, 38, of Rochester was traveling eastbound on Oakland Avenue in Austin at about 8:40 p.m. when he lost control of his 2012 GMC Acadia, which then struck the guardrail before entering the north ditch of Interstate 90.

The Austin Police and Fire Departments, along with the Mower County Sheriff’s Office, responded to the scene.

Gills was transported to Mayo Clinic Health System-Austin with non-life threatening injuries by Mayo Clinic Ambulance.

Gills was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. The report indicates that alcohol was a factor in the accident.
