Linda L. Vaupel, 71

Linda Lou Vaupel, 71, of Stewartville, Minnesota, died surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2018, from complications of a lengthy illness with cancer, at the Stewartville Care Center where she had been a resident for six days.

Linda Taylor  was born on Jan. 27, 1947, in Stewartville, Minnesota to Floyd and Myrle (Amos) Taylor. Linda grew up in Stewartville, where she attended school, graduating from Stewartville High School in 1965.

Linda was married on Aug. 6, 1966, at the United Methodist Church in Stewartville to Robert  J. Vaupel. Following their marriage the couple moved to rural Grand Meadow, Minnesota, where they farmed, raised their sons and lived for all of their married years. Linda was a homemaker and was employed for a short time at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, with the Stewartville School District as a “lunch lady” and as a sales associate for a number of years at Kohl’s Department Store in Rochester. Bob was a longtime area farmer.

Mr. Vaupel died on Jan. 25, 2003. Linda moved into Stewartville where she had continued to make her home. She was a longtime member of Stewartville United Methodist Church.

Linda was an avid shopper and collector. She enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling with family and playing bridge with her girlfriends. She enjoyed time spent with her large family through the years, visiting them in warmer climates. She especially loved time with her sons and families and following her grandkids sporting and school activities.

Linda is survived by her three sons: Mark(Annemarie) of Austin, Minnesota; Mike (Angie) of Overland Park, Kansas and Mat(Lisa) of rural Racine, Minnesota; Seven grandchildren: Robert (Mallory) Vaupel, Ben Vaupel, Amanda(Eric) Harrington, David Vaupel, Elizabeth Vaupel, Layne Vaupel and Nick Vaupel;  two sisters: Marlene Marsh (Dave) of Rosemount, Minnesota and Missy Meyer-Taylor of Hayfield, Minnesota; three brothers: Dan(Nancy) Taylor of Rochester, Minnesota; Jeff (Mary) Taylor of Stewartville and James (Helene) Stockfleth of Oregon, Minnesota; sister-in-law: Janet Taylor of Rochester, Minnesota and step-mother: Evelyn Taylor, Hayfield.

Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, her parents and her brother, Charlie Taylor.

A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2019, at the United Methodist Church in Stewartville with Rev. Wane Souhrada officiating. A time of visitation for family and friends will take place one hour prior to the service. Lunch will be served immediately after the service. A private family interment will follow at a later date.

Linda’s family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society or Seasons Hospice in Rochester.
