The Austin Hy-Vee will be making changes to its food court options in the coming months by incorporating Mia Pizza, a customized wood-fired pizza service, as a new option.

The change is part of a new food court concept that will be launched at several stores, according to Tina Potthoff, vice president of communications for Hy-Vee, Inc.

“The new Hy-Vee Food Courts will include the same great food selections our customers love, such as Hy-Vee Chinese and Hy-Vee Hickory House Comfort Foods,” she said. “As the percentage of people eating outside of their home increases, we are excited to unveil our Hy-Vee Food Court, which will provide multiple quick-service meal options to meet our customers’ needs.”

Austin’s expanded Hy-Vee opened in May 2017, replacing the smaller, older building, which is currently being transitioned into a retail outlet. The new Hy-Vee introduced the company’s food court options to Austin, which include sushi, Mexican and Chinese foods as well as the Market Grille Express.

But the addition of Mia Pizza means the removal of some options.

“With this change, we also will be transitioning out our Long Island Deli and Dia Pida areas,” Potthoff said. “These offerings were brand new offerings when our new store first opened; however, as we watch food trends and hear from our customers, we believe the Mia Pizza offering will be a more popular food choice.”

Potthoff said Hy-Vee is still finalizing details, but anticipates the changes will be completed by this fall.
