Austin can look forward to a new hotel in the future.

Premier Hotel Properties has announced that a new Holiday Inn Express & Suites will be built in Austin, slated for construction in the area between the current Holiday Inn Austin Conference Center and Torge’s Live and Perkins Restaurant.

ATI Hotel, LLC, a partnership that owns the current Holiday Inn and Torge’s Live, has recently received the franchise rights to build the new Holiday Inn Express & Suites.

Premier Hotel Properties was hired by ATI to manage the new site for them and negotiations for the move have been ongoing for the last few months, according to a press release sent out by the company.

“We’ve been working on this for the last two months, working with (Holiday Inn’s) parent company, International Hotel Group,” said Premiere Hotel Properties Vice President of Operations Shawn McAlister.

ATI purchased both the Holiday Inn and Torge’s Live from Torgerson Properties, Inc., in December 2017. Torgerson still owns Perkins Restaurant and Days Inn.

Firm plans for development have yet to be solidified, but McAlister said that Holiday Inn Express & Suites is a good fit for Austin.

“The ink isn’t even dry on the paper so to speak,” McAlister said. “We’re really excited to bring that concept to Austin.”

The new hotel will have more than 70 rooms. The next phase will be to start talking about the existing hotel. McAlister said that it could change names, but it’s too early to say for sure. Torge’s will remain unchanged.

“When the new owners bought it, they did not want to mess with Torge’s,” McAlister said. “We wanted to keep that tradition absolutely alive in Austin.”
