The No. 12 seeded Southland girls basketball team knocked off No. 5 Fillmore Central (17-9 overall) 75-63 on the road Thursday.

Five players reached double figures in scoring for the Rebels (7-17 overall) as Larissa Goslee, Kelsey Mensink and Jenna Bentzin each had 14 points.

“I’m tremendously proud of the equal distribution,” Southland head coach Dean Bendtsen said. “We lost a practice last night so I was kind of nervous, but the girls adjusted on the fly really well.”

Southland will now play No. 4 seeded Lyle-Pacelli in Mayo Civic Center at 7:30 p.m Tuesday. LP beat Southland 49-47 last week.

“The girls are super excited to get back to the Civic Center for the second year in a row,” Bendtsen said. “I don’t think we’ll be as ‘dear in the headlights’ and I think we can compete with anybody.”
