Marilyn E. Thorstenson, 83, of Adams, Minnesota, passed away on Monday, Jan. 28, 2019, at Mayo Clinic Hospital, St. Marys Campus-Rochester.
Marilyn was born Aug. 30, 1935, in Sacred Heart, Minnesota, to Obert and Alice (Holum) Floen. She graduated from Battle Lake High School in 1953. Marilyn married Marlo Thorstenson on March 22, 1958, at the First Lutheran Church in Battle Lake, Minnesota.
She was a legal secretary for seven years while living in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. After moving to Adams, she was an EMT for the Adams Ambulance Service, was a school bus driver and worked as the city clerk for 24 years. Marilyn was a member of Little Cedar Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir and served on the church council. She was a member of Prairie Visions since 1989 and she enjoyed music.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Obert and Alice Floen.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Marlo Thorstenson, Adams; three sons Mikel Thorstenson, Spring Valley, Minnesota, Mark Thorstenson, Geneva, Minnesota, and Milo (Terri) Thorstenson, Clarks Grove, Minnesota; four grandchildren- four great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; siblings, Doris Ferguson, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Verlin (Laural) Floen, Fergus Falls, and Eileen (Mark) Anderson, Waconia, Minnesota; and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 8, 2019, at Little Cedar Lutheran Church with the Rev. Jeremy Johnson officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service on Friday at the church. Interment will be at Little Cedar Cemetery in the spring. Adams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
