The No. 3 seeded Hayfield girls basketball team opened postseason play with a 59-44 win over No. 14 Mabel-Canton (8-20 overall) in a Section 1A Tournament opener in Hayfield Thursday.

The Vikings (18-8 overall) jumped out to a 7-0 lead and it never trailed in the win. Elecia Brown paced Hayfield with 19 points.

The Vikings will now play the winner Kingsland in Mayo Civic Center 7:30 p.m. Monday.
