GMLOS wrestling team sends three to state

The Grand Meadow/LeRoy-Ostrander/Southland wrestling team had three athletes earn trips to state at the Section 1A meet in the Mayo Civic Center in Rochester Saturday.

Jackson Hale, who finished in third place at state in 2017 and fourth place at state in 2018, will join his teammates Coehn Wiste and Clayton Luthe at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul Friday and Saturday.

Hale, a senior, took first place at 132 pounds for GMLOS to get to state, Luthe, a senior, took first at 285 to move on and Wiste, an eighth grader, earned his trip to state by taking second place at 106 pounds.

Hale, who is 37-3 overall, will take on Tyler Jenson of BBE who is 34-12 overall, in his first match at state.

Wiste, who is 33-7 overall, will open state competition against Jesus Anaya of Adrian, who is 33-5 overall.

Luthe, who is 37-3 overall, will open with Brady Ridler of BOLD, who is 24-13 overall.

Donovan Felten of GMLOS took third place at 138, Rece Voigt took fourth place at 145 and Noah Sayles took third place at 160.
