The Austin boys hockey team overcame a slow start to beat Winona (2-16 overall, 0-10 Big Nine) 5-2 in Winona Saturday.

The Winhawks jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period, but Blaine Krueger, who finished with a hat trick, scored a pair of goals to tie the game at 2-2. Tyler Hoban scored to put Austin up 3-2 in the second period.

Dawson Mills added a third period goal to make it 5-2 and Ryan Flanders finished with 15 saves to get the win for Austin (4-11 overall, 3-8 Big Nine).
