Kathie E. Yennie, 73, of Rochester, Minnesota, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019, at  Mayo Clinic Hospital, St. Marys Campus-Rochester with her loving family by her side. She had been a patient for one week.

Kathie Elaine Stahl was born on June 1, 1945, in Austin, Minnesota, to Herman and Marian (Stephens) Stahl. She grew up in rural Sargeant, Minnesota, on the family farm and attended Hayfield schools, graduating from Hayfield High School in 1963. She moved to Rochester, where she was employed as a nurse’s aid for a few years at St. Marys Hospital. Kathie was married on July 11, 1970, in Byron, Minnesota, to Gerald R. Yennie. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Rochester, where they raised their daughter and have continued to make their home. Kathie was a homemaker and daycare provider from her home for many years. She was also employed at D&R Vending in Rochester and as a manager in the receiving department at Walmart South at the time of her retirement. Mr. Yennie was a longtime employee of Tele-Prompter Cable Co. in Rochester. Kathie was a member of Calvary Episcopal Church in Rochester and, with her husband Gerald, was a longtime member of the Eagles in Rochester. Kathie enjoyed knitting, crocheting, bingo, coloring with her colored pencils, camping, fishing, and loved time spent with family, especially her grandchildren.

Kathie is survived by her husband, Gerald; her daughter and son-in-law, Jackie Beltz (Tony Kunz) of Rochester; four grandchildren, Ryan Beltz, Lacey Beltz, Adam Kunz and Noah Kunz; sister, Mary Hirsch of Wabasha, Minnesota; four brothers, Norman (Leona) Stahl of Virginia, Kenneth (Beverly) Halliday of Austin, Herman Stahl Jr. of Byron and Donald Stahl of Rochester; brother-in-law, Charles VandeLinde of Virginia; and many nieces, nephews, great-niece and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Marian Stahl; sister, Bessie VandeLinde; sister-in-law, Amanda Stahl; and brother-in-law, Jack Hirsch.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 11, 2019, at Griffin-Gray Funeral Home in Stewartville, Minnesota, with the Rev. Caila Rinker officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester. A time of visitation for family and friends will take place from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019, at Griffin-Gray Funeral Home for one prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
