Hibbett Sports closes Austin location

Hibbett Sports in Austin was open for its last day of business on Sunday.
On Monday morning, a sign was posted on the interior of the front entrance door stating the store was closed.
“This Hibbett Sports location is now closed. We are honored to have served this community and we thank you for business,” the sign read.

No formal announcement for the closure was made, according to Jarrett McCoy, district manager for Hibbett Sports. While he could not elaborate about corporate policy, McCoy stated that “several factors” played a role in the store’s closure and it was a “collective decision at the corporate office.”
Hibbett Sports corporate office could not be reached for comment.
With the closure, the nearest Hibbett Sports location to Austin is in Decorah, Iowa.
McCoy said that the Austin location will still be receiving deliveries on orders made prior to the store’s closing.
Customers who purchased online orders to be delivered to the Austin location can still pick them up at the store.
