Eva M. Heffron, 88

Eva M. Heffron, 88, of Austin, Minnesota, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2018, at Mayo Clinic Health System-Austin.

Eva was born Aug. 18, 1930, in Fillmore County, Minnesota, the daughter of Floyd and Leona (Turner) Johnson. Her family moved to Austin when she was 12 years old and she graduated from Austin High School in 1948. Eva married Kenneth Heffron on June 10, 1950, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Together they raised three boys, and while the boys were young, Eva volunteered at Neveln Elementary School. She was a devoted wife and mother and her family was her priority. For 12 years, Eva was a waitress at the Holiday Inn.

Eva was a gifted decorator. She had a beautiful home, inside and out, and was told she should have been an interior designer.

Eva had close friends and enjoyed the nearly 30 years she spent with her coffee group, which met twice a week in later years. She was especially grateful for her friend, caretaker and housekeeper, Joan Cheney.

She was an active member of the League of Women Voters and of Crane Community Chapel.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Leona Johnson; her husband, Kenneth Heffron, in 1993; her son, Gregory Paul Heffron, in 1992; two brothers; and two sisters.

Eva is survived by her sons, Michael David (Kath) Heffron, Maple Lake, Minnesota, and Jonathon Kenneth Heffron (Patricia Mollhagen), Rockport, Texas; a granddaughter, Lindsay Ann Heffron (Steven O’Sullivan), Houston, Texas; a grandson, Christopher Jonathon (Alexa) Heffron, Houston; sister, Joan Stowell, Austin; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019, at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary with the Rev. Dale Christiansen officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service on Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Crane Community Chapel.
