The Austin Bruins announced some moves on Tuesday as the team prepares for the home stretch of the season.
In a deal with the Odessa Jackalopes, the Bruins acquired forwards Kyle Herbster and Jared Christy in exchange for rookie Joe Winkelmann and other considerations.
Christy, 20, is the Jackalopes leading scorer through 39 games with 37 points. His 17 goals on the season also tops the team. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound, forward is in his second junior season after splitting 2017-18 between the Wenatchee Wild of the BCHL and the Odessa of NAHL.
Herbster, 20, is amidst his first year in the NAHL after a pair of years playing in the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League with Cochrane Crunch. Through 39 games, the Cary, IL, native has 35 points on eight goals and 27 assists and ranks second on the team behind only Christy.
In a separate move, the Bruins traded forward Che Landikusic to Corpus Christi in exchange for other considerations. Landikusic, a Lake Superior State University commit, has nine points this season for the Bruins in 26 games.
After an away game on Friday, the Bruins are back at home on Saturday for the ninth annual Paint the Rink Pink game.
