Alumni update: Fett chips in for MSU

Lyle grad Kristi Fett had four points and seven rebounds for Minnesota State University in an 80-78 win at Wayne State on Jan. 2.

On the season, Fett, a freshman, is averaging 5.7 points and 4.7 rebounds while shooting 51 percent from the field. She has broken the double digit barrier in points in two of the 18 games she has played in for the Mavericks (7-11 overall).

Blooming Prairie grad Taylor Hagen led the way for the University of Northern Iowa in a 71-51 win over Indiana State Jan. 27. Hagen poured in a career-high 18 points on 8-of-10 shooting and she grabbed six rebounds in win.

Hagen, a senior, is averaging 6.9 points and 3.4 rebounds per game, while shooting 51 percent from the field for the Panthers (12-7 overall).

Pacelli grad Sarah Holtz had 16 points and 10 rebounds for Luther College (9-8 overall) in an 81-50 win over Buena Vista University Jan. 26.

Holtz is averaging 14.6 points and 7 rebounds per game.

Grand Meadow grad Rio Landers had back-to-back 12 point games for the University of Northwestern (9-10 overall) in losses to North Central University and University of Minnesota Morris recently.

Landers is averaging 10.6 points, 7.1 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game.

Hayfield grad Olivia Matti was named MCAC Southern Division player of the week for her role in RCTC’s wins over Ridgewater and Fergus Falls last week.

Matti totaled 59 points in 59 minutes, going 23-of-38 from the field and 8-of-16 on threes. Matti also had ten rebounds, seven assists and six steals in those two contests.

Austin native Both Gach had 18 points for Utah in an 82-64 win over California.

Gach went 7-for-10 from the field in the win and he went 3-for-6 on threes.

Gach, a freshman, is now averaging  8.6 points and 2.4 rebounds per game for the Utes (11-8 overall).

Austin grad Gach Gach had nine points and four rebounds for West Texas A & M as the Buffs (19-3 overall) beat Eastern New Mexico 74-69 Jan. 22.

Gach, a senior, is averaging 12.5 points per game while shooting 30 percent on three-pointers.

Austin grad Duoth Gach continues to have a productive freshman senior season at North Dakota State College of Science as he had 19 points, four rebounds and four steals in a 67-59 win over Lake Region College.

Duoth hit 5-for-9 threes in the win for the Wildcats (18-4 overall).

Austin grad Oman Oman had three points and seven rebounds in the win.


WRESTLING

Grand Meadow grad Brenn Olson has wrestled in three matches this season with the University of Minnesota. Olson has a record of 1-2 at 149 pounds for the Gophers.


TRACK AND FIELD

Austin grad Madison Overby took first place in the 3,000 meter run for the University of North Dakota in a dual against South Dakota State in Grand Forks recently.

Overby, a junior, finished with a time of 10:02.74.

Austin grad Amber Hansen took sixth place in the weight throw in the meet for Fight Hawks with a distance of 15.76 meters.


SWIMMING AND DIVING

Austin grad Isaac Christopherson was part of the Luther College 200-yard freestyle relay that took second place with a time of 1:31.65 in the sixth annual Luther Sprint Invite Jan. 12.

Christopherson took fourth place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:52.84.
