Packers downed by Century after rough first period

The Austin boys hockey team had trouble from the opening face-off as it lost to Rochester Century 9-2 in Riverside Arena Thursday.

The Panthers (5-1-1 overall, 4-0 Big Nine) piled on six goals in the opening period and they led 8-0 before Dawson Mills broke up the shutout with a second period goal.

Hunter Guyette added a third period goal for the Packers (2-4 overall, 1-3 Big Nine), who had 20 shots on goal.

Ryan Flanders finished with 50 saves for Austin.
