Nancy Lucinda (Peterson) Kavula, 65, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2018, at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Nancy was born on March 23, 1953, to Leon and Lorraine (Thompson) Peterson of Austin, Minnesota. She graduated from Austin High School in 1972.

On Feb. 18, 1974, Nancy was united in marriage to Peter Kavula Jr. in Austin. They had one daughter, Elizabeth, in 1977.

Nancy was a business owner in Rochester, Minnesota, for many years. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a devoted, caring, and loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Nancy had a passion for interior design. She was a people person and could carry on a conversation with anyone. She touched many people’s lives throughout her lifetime. She was loved dearly and will be truly missed my many.

Nancy is survived by her devoted husband, Peter Kavula; her daughter, Elizabeth Kavula; her four grandchildren, Anthony Ranfranz, Alana (Ranfranz) Broesder, Maria Ranfranz and Olivia Ranfranz; her sister, Dianne Tracy; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Lorraine (Thompson) Peterson; and her brother, Gary Peterson.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2018, at Crane Chapel, 1111 Ninth St. NE, Austin, MN 55912. Visitation with the family will be held at noon on Saturday at the chapel.
